INTRODUCTION
Hey there! I’m James “Nuts” Bouin. Born and raised in Paris, I'm currently 23 years old, living in Dundee (Scotland) where I graduated from Abertay University in 2021. I'm a proactive and enthusiastic player and designer. Alongside games, I love writing music, going on wild adventures and practicing intense sports.
I've recently concluded my work as a Lead Game Designer at North Sea Games, an indie studio of Abertay graduates. As a devoted designer, I strive to explore every branch of the Design Tree throughout my career. I can't wait to see what opportunities will arise.
GAME DESIGN EXPERIENCE
For almost a year, I worked at North Sea Games, a Dundee-based indie studio, as a Lead Designer. Working on Hidden Hunter, our game selected by Roblox in their Accelerator Program, I also worked as a Producer and Implementer.
Throughout my studies, I've participated in 4 different game-designs group projects. I've also designed 9+ original games in solo, of which 4 saw the light of day. Since employed by North Sea Games, I've worked closely with 10+ members, leading a team of 3 designers, allowing me to greatly expand my game development horizon.
Additionally, my course has given me experience in every stage of the game creation process, such as Q&A, UX, story-telling, programming, production, etc. I chose to specialize in art for a semester which further consolidated my 3D modelling, sculpting, and texturing skills.
EDUCATION
I graduated from Abertay University in Dundee for a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Game Design and Production. You can view my honours project and honours project dissertation in my portfolio.
I undertook most of my education in Colombes, France, at the Jeanne d'Arc Institution. I achieved an average of 15/20 in my Economics Baccalaureate, equivalent to a B+ in Highers or A-Levels.
OTHER WORK EXPERIENCES
Between 2017 and now, I worked with an agency as an event host and animator on 30+ different temporary missions, including leading a small team on a VR Stand at DisneyWorld for over a month, holding an exhibition stand at an international industrial convention or distributing marketing products at festivals.
